Upon completion of this course you will:

Have a good understanding of schedule development, adjustments and risk evaluation.

  • Preliminary Construction Schedule

Gain the skills and knowledge to set up a preliminary project schedule, establish key milestones, and define mandatory completion deadlines.

  • Schedule and Cost Adjustments

Ensure that the estimated time to complete a project is accurate and adjust resources as necessary to meet the completion time requirements and milestones.

  • Schedule Risk Assessment

Evaluate, prioritize, and analyze potential schedule risks and adjust the cost estimate to accommodate them effectively.

A few more words...

We cannot call a cost estimate complete without estimating the project duration.

A cost estimator's job is to anticipate the duration of a construction project and accurately estimate its costs. While some factors that cause a project to exceed budget and time are justifiable and recoverable, others can lead to extra costs for the contractor. Avoid taking risky shortcuts in your work by building your cost estimating skills the right way. It is a common mistake for some cost estimators to develop a preliminary schedule that lacks data feed from the cost estimate, but this course will show you the proper method to build your skills.

A word from the training program creator

Doina Dobre, P.Eng., GSC

From my experience in project management and cost estimating, I have always been intrigued by project scheduling, particularly in terms of production rates, resource utilization, construction methodology, and constructability. The cost estimator is, in essence, a planner who mentally visualizes the construction of the project before starting the cost estimate. It is crucial to learn how to prepare a proper project schedule when estimating costs, as it provides significant insight into costs, production rates, and efficiency. Don't be afraid to develop your skills in project scheduling and reap the benefits.
